Excellence Programs

Albany Creek State High School offers an excellence program in both the arts and football and in partnership with universities and coaching organisations will provide unique learning opportunities to develop and enhance creative and artistic production, performance skills and knowledge and skills in the sport. 

2019 Football Excellence Selection Trials

The following dates are listed for the 2018 Year 6 students who wish to enrol for the 2019 Year 7 Football Excellence Program at Albany Creek State High School.

Students wishing to enrol in the Football Excellence Program must provide evidence of their ability and good character prior to acceptance in the class.

Students wishing to take part in the selection trials need to attend the school Thursday 14 June AND Tuesday 19 June 2018, 3.30pm to 5.00pm.  Student’s trialling are expected to attend both sessions.  

Venue: Albany Creek State High School Oval.
Time: Students can be dropped off at the MPC (sports hall) between 15:00 - 15:30 and collected at 17:00
Equipment to bring: Football training kit (including shin pads) and water bottle.

Please note that parents need to have submitted both a completed Expression of Interest of Enrolment  and Football Application form prior to the first trial.

2019 The Arts Excellence Program Auditions

The following dates are listed for the 2018 Year 6 students who wish to audition for the 2019 Year 7 Arts Excellence Program at Albany Creek State High School.

Dance:  Monday, 11 June - XPAC 3.30pm to 4.30pm.

Drama:  Tuesday, 12 June - XPAC 3.30pm to 4.30pm.

Instrumental Music (IM): Wednesday, 13 June - Music Centre 3.30pm to 4.30pm.

Visual Art:  Thursday, 14 June - E Block 3.30pm to 4.30pm.

Arts Excellence Audition for 2019 entry will be held from 11 – 14 June at Albany Creek State High School. Acceptance to the program is based on each student’s performance at the Selected Auditions. Students may attend more than one audition but all participating Year 6 students need to have the following clothing/equipment for the audition process:

Monday 11 June
DANCE 3.30 – 4.30pm XPAC                                                                                          
□    Dance tights and T-shirt or Leotard                                       
□    Jazz Shoes or Toe Thongs or Bare Feet           
□    Water Bottle                                                                                                                  

Tuesday 12 June
DRAMA 3.30 – 4.30pm XPAC
□    Prepared Monolgue                                  
□    Comfortable Clothing
□    Water Bottle

Wednesday 13 June
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC 3.30 – 4.30pm MUSIC CENTRE
□    Prepared Piece of Music from lessons or ensemble and Scales   
□    Instrument Played for Woodwind, Brass and Strings – Percussion students will be provided with instruments
□    Music Folder
□    Water Bottle

Thursday 14 June
VISUAL ART 3.30 – 4.30pm in E BLOCK ART ROOM
□    Art Journal or examples of Art Work student has made in the past twelve months
□    Water Bottle

Note for Instrumental Music students: 

If you live inside the school catchment area and are accepted into the school, your child will be accepted, no audition necessary, into the Instrumental Music Program. Auditions for Arts Excellence Instrumental Music Program is in addition to the program offered by Education Queensland. It is expected that students participating in the primary school IM program will continue to learn at their secondary school as the IM is a Year 4 - 12 program.

If you are outside the catchment area, entry may be gained through the audition process for the Arts Excellence program.
