Year 9 Geography Excursion

24/03/2017

Year 9 Geography students undertook an excursion to Brisbane City.  They visited Post Office Square, King George Square and Burnett Lane with guides from the Brisbane Urban Environmental Education Centre.  The purpose of the excursion is to collect data from these sites which will be used in a report.  The students are learning about urban development and have to evaluate the current health of either King George Square or Post Office Square.  They have to measure these sites against social, economic, and environmental criteria before making a proposal to improve the site.  These students will be heavily impacted by changes that are happening in Brisbane City at the moment so it is great to see them taking an interest and finding out how development decisions are made.
