Year 7 Science Excursion

​Students did two activities with the education team from Bunyaville. In ponding they used nets to collect different organisms found in a freshwater habitat. Students used a dichotomous key to identify and classify them in order to construct a food web for the pond.
In the second activity, students walked into the bushland where they looked for evidence of producers as well as primary and secondary consumers. They used counters to count organisms in a chosen area. Using this data they created an energy pyramid that showed the energy flow in a bushland community and how organisms are interconnected.  The students enjoyed learning outdoors and had a lot of fun. They should be congratulated for being engaged even though we experienced hot weather.
