Pierre de Coubertin Award Nominee

We are pleased to announce that our school nominee for the 2017 Pierre de Coubertin Awards is Year 12 student Imogen Barker.

The Pierre de Coubertin Awards is a major program of the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) Schools Education Strategy. The program is designed to emphasise participation and commendable sporting behaviour consistent with the Olympic Movement.  The Awards recognise students who demonstrate initiative, teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play through participation in a variety of sports in the competitive arena.

Imogen was selected for nomination as she displays all of the qualities of sportsmanship and fair play that the award calls for. Throughout her five years at Albany Creek State High School she has represented our school and the North West District in Track and Field, Cross Country and Swimming. She has also represented Metropolitan Region at the Queensland State Schools’ Track and Field Championships, competing in Triple Jump and High Jump.

Imogen is a mentally and physically tough competitor but she is also respectful and fair during competition.  This year she was selected as House Captain and has been proactive in generating House spirit and improving participation amongst the Junior Secondary students.  Imogen has a positive influence on her team and is an exceptional sports person.  We wish her all the best with her nomination.
