Parliament House visit

We visited the Legislative Council Chamber where we learned much about a room steeped in history and tradition. From there we moved through to the Members’ Reading Room where students were amazed at the quantity of bound books lining the walls. These books held the minutes of parliamentary sittings before the days of technology. From here we moved to the Legislative Assembly Chamber Room where the inner workings of Parliament take place.

Tired and hungry after our tour Mr Mander then took us to “Strangers’ Dining Room” for lunch.

Unfortunately, we had to cut this amazing lunch short and skip dessert as we rushed off to a final surprise Mr Mander had in his back pocket. We headed out to the court yard and, to everyone’s surprise and delight, saw the Queensland State of Origin Bus pull up. We watched the team disembark from the bus and waited with excited anticipation to speak to people we have admired from afar. However, the best was yet to come, as the students mixed with and took photos of the famous shield as well as their favourite players.
